In 2003, my girlfriend Janet and I went to the Scrapbook Expo in
There was a booth called Touch of Embossing and we were inspired by the simple, beautiful cards that could be made with scraps of paper and brass templates. I left with some blank cards and a cute flower template planning to make some birthday cards. Janet had grander ideas--doing all of her Christmas cards with an adorable snowman template she had found.
After trying out this embossing thing, I left Janet an e-mail mentioning that I thought other people would love these cards and that we should sell them. Ending the e-mail with, "Am I cuckoo?" Well, the verdict is still out, but Janet and I started our little card business and called it Cuckoo Creations.
Janet retired from the business in 2006, but I love creating these cards so much that I am carrying on the cuckoo-ness and I look forward to helping you keep in touch with your friends and family with adorable and affordable cards. I also wanted to continue with the business because I use half the profits from Cuckoo Creations to fund Baskets of Love. A ministry I started in April of 2005 to help single moms by providing them with a different basket full of goodies every month.
I hope you enjoy the cards and that they will inspire you to keep in touch with your loved ones.
